Lasso and Sailors Bracelet Story
The lasso bracelet is a hook style bracelet that is my version of the Key West bracelet, which comes in many different styles. Those were born from the original Bahamian hook bracelets that, today, are uniquely made on most islands in the tropics.
I wanted the lasso to resemble the hook feature but also be unique to my design style. I named it the lasso because like most people who visit Key West, they get hooked, or lassoed by the laidback lifestyle and culture of the island, some of which end up staying or moving here after a visit.
After making them for a few years I decided to push the design a little further. I went with a plain round wire band in the same shape as the lasso with the twisted wire wrap. Then expanding that design again by making a longer twisted wire wrap. Each of these styles reminded me of the rope used on sailing vessels which are abundant in Key West history as well as today. The lasso and sailors bracelets are made to last and be worn every day.
